To turn multiple images to one PDF, add all your pictures to the PDFNova Image to PDF tool, drag them into the right order, choose a page size and download a single file. Each image becomes one page, and JPG and PNG pictures can be mixed in the same document.
One picture is easy. Twenty pictures are where things go wrong: pages out of order, some sideways, a file too heavy to send. This guide focuses on the batch problems, so a pile of photos becomes one document that reads properly from the first page to the last.
When one PDF beats a folder of pictures
- Handwritten assignments. Teachers and portals usually want one file per submission, with pages in order.
- Application documents. Photos of certificates, bills and letters are easier to review as a single PDF.
- Receipts for expense claims. One file per month or per trip keeps accounts simple.
- Property, product or damage photos. A fixed sequence lets you refer to “page 4” in a message.
- Notes and book pages. A single file is far easier to revise from than a gallery.
Prepare the batch before you add it
Most of the work in a multi image PDF happens before conversion. Use this checklist:
- Collect everything in one place. Move or copy the pictures into one album or folder so you can select them together.
- Delete the rejects. Remove blurry shots and duplicates now.
- Crop and straighten. Trim backgrounds so the content fills the frame.
- Fix rotation. Turn every picture upright in your gallery or photo viewer.
- Count the pages. If the assignment has twelve pages, you should have twelve pictures. Missing pages are much easier to catch at this stage.
- Rename if you are on a computer. Numbered names such as 01, 02, 03 keep the pictures in sequence when you select them.
How to combine multiple images to one PDF
- Open Image to PDF in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
- Add the images. Select all of them at once. On a phone, use multi-select in the picker. On a computer, you can select a group of files in the file window.
- Reorder. Drag the thumbnails until the pages are in reading order. Check the first and last picture in particular.
- Pick the page size. Choose A4, Letter or fit-to-image.
- Set orientation and margins. Choose portrait or landscape, and decide how much white space you want around each picture.
- Create and download. You get one PDF, saved directly to your device.
PDFNova processes files in your browser, so your documents are not uploaded to a server. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark on the pages.
Which layout settings to use
| Type of images | Page size | Orientation | Margins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photos of paper pages | A4, or Letter in North America | Portrait | Small |
| Phone screenshots | Fit-to-image | Not needed | None |
| Slides or wide certificates | A4 or Letter | Landscape | Small |
| Photo album or portfolio | Fit-to-image | Not needed | None |
| Mixed tall and wide pictures for printing | A4 or Letter | The one most pictures share | Small |
Fit-to-image makes every page the exact shape of its picture. That looks great on a screen but gives pages of different sizes, which is awkward to print. A fixed size such as A4 gives uniform pages and is the safer choice for anything official.

Keeping a many-photo PDF small
Size grows with every picture you add. A set of full resolution camera photos can produce a PDF that is too heavy for email or for a form. You have two points of control.
Before conversion: crop tightly, since removing background removes data, and leave out pictures that add nothing.
After conversion: run the file through Compress PDF. Choose a level with the slider, compare the before and after size, and look at the preview to make sure handwriting and small print are still readable. Image-heavy PDFs shrink a lot, so this step usually solves the problem. Our guide on how to make smaller PDFs from photos goes through the options in detail.
The default maximum file size in the tools is 100 MB. If your batch is bigger than you expected, split the job into two PDFs and join them afterwards.
Fixing the PDF after it is made
Spotted a mistake after downloading? You do not always need to start again.
- Wrong order, a sideways page or an extra page: open the file in Organize Pages. You can drag pages to reorder them, rotate them, delete them or insert a blank page, then save a new PDF.
- Forgot some pictures: convert the missing ones into a second PDF and join both with Merge PDF.
- Reader needs to refer to pages: add numbers with Page Numbers, using a format such as “Page 1 of 12” in any corner.
Common mistakes with image batches
- Selecting pictures in a random order and not checking the thumbnails afterwards.
- Mixing portrait and landscape shots of the same kind of page, which forces the reader to keep turning the phone.
- Including a picture of the wrong document that was next to the others in the gallery.
- Sending the file without opening it once and scrolling through every page.
- Leaving the default file name, so the receiver cannot tell what it is.
Frequently asked questions
How many images can I put in one PDF?
There is no small fixed page count to worry about for everyday batches. The practical limits are file size and the memory of your device, since everything is processed in the browser. For very large sets on an older phone, work in smaller groups and merge the results.
Can I mix JPG and PNG images in the same PDF?
Yes. Add both types together and arrange them in any order. Each one becomes a page.
How do I change the order of images in the PDF?
Drag the thumbnails into position before creating the file. If the PDF already exists, reorder its pages with the Organize Pages tool.
Can I put two images on one page?
The tool places one image on each page. If you need two pictures side by side, combine them into one picture in a photo editor or collage feature first, then add that picture.
Sort first, convert once, check the result. With the pictures ready, open Image to PDF and turn the whole batch into one clean document.
